Tirau is a vibrant little town set in the South Waikato amongst some of New Zealand's most fertile farmland.
Three main roads pass through this small town which boasts a large variety of unique shops, cafes and restaurants, popular as a destination with both overseas tourists and passing motorists.
Tirau is a Maori word - the translation being:
Ti - Cabbage tree, rau - many
ie the place of many Cabbage trees
The Tirau community has claimed corrugated-iron art as it’s own, and now Steven Clothier's works line the streets!.
